My First Car Wash

I've never been to those auto car wash centre before. Ever since my maid went back to Indonesia, my poor car had not been to a "bath" for 2 weeks. After the Hor Hee breakfast , my hubby decided to take the car for a wash. We stopped by one centre advertising for RM4 per wash but went off after seeing that it was all done manually ( long queue and longer waiting time). Then we went to Kampar Road and found one that's machine-operated. So, IN we go.........

First, we were sprayed with water ( done manually by foreign workers)..

Then, soap and bubbles ...........

Off we go into the "machine" for cleaning up.....

And Last, wiping my car clean and dry (oso manual) with these towels.

All along this little journey, my daugther and me were giggling away like some kids who were enjoying their first taste at candy while my hubby was laughing at us , " Soh Poh n Soh Mooi, so happy !!!!"

I don't know why but this little journey makes me laugh and feel happy..LOL.. All for the price of RM3.00 !

Hor Hee Fun again!

Another weekend has just passed. Only last week i blogged about having found the Hor Hee Fun stall from my earlier working days. This week, I found another Hor Hee Fun stall from my school days! Actually, the stall is still there since my school days. It's just that I haven't been there for a few years. It's the Kedai Makanan  Lok Wee Koi opposite the Kamdar Store. It used to be the haunt for most of the Ipoh ppl with the ex-famous Super Kinta Departmental Store, Ipoh Main Market, ex-Foh San Dim Sum restaurant and a bus-stop within walking distance.

 The Hor Hee Fun is well... almost the same with its usual ingredients.

Another thing I like about the shop is its ice-cream soda drink. THAT I can still tell you, it's the same. I don't think it can be found in most of the coffee-shops I've been to. If anyone who reads this knows of other coffeeshops with this drink, leave me a note. I like to go and try it out.

Cheap clothing !

I came across this shop selling all its clothes at RM25.00. So the "silai" in me just couldn't resist the temptation to check out this place. There's at least 3 types of prices, RM15, RM19 and of course the max, RM25. There are children clothing ( t-shirts, caps, bikinis, skirts, shoes and a few gowns) ladies clothing and accessories (wallets, dinner bag, fashion bags, jewellery, earrings, shores, belts etc). All in this corner shop behind Chor Kee Coffeeshop in Ipoh Garden South.

There's this cute toddler/baby romp in the pattern of Superman and Bee (which is already common, I guess) hanging there that I couldn't resist nt taking a pic of it.

I was able to just browse through for a few minutes when hubby comes looking for me. Have yet to satisfy the urge to buy, so I'll definitely BE BACK !!!!!! Just U Seee !!!!! The silai in me just could not resist it... Arrrgghhh!

Met an old "Friend"

Kway Teow , also known as Hor Fun is one of the famous "trademark" of Ipoh. Usually, many outsiders associate it with "Kei Si Hor Fun"  which is also eaten along the famous Taugeh Chicken. "Hor Hee Fun" is one meal which uses Kway Teow as the main ingredient.

When I was working in Old Town, I use to frequent a Hor Hee Fun stall located near the 20-storey Kinta Flats. After moving to Greentown in 2000, the stall also sort of disappeared form its usual place.

Recently, I found the stall has actually moved to JJ Coffeeshop ( behind Salam Restoran, opposite J.Jusco) and of course, I went to eat and found that although the taste is slightly different from what it used to be, it is still tasty enough to bring back those good ol' memories. It's like finding an old "friend"

Surprised why my picture does not show Kway Teow ? Because I prefer this "Toong Fun"  lor!...LOL

Japanese Food In Ipoh

I did  a search for "Japanese food in Ipoh" through Google search today and found there wasn't such a subject. Whereas, the search for Japanese food for KL, Penang, Johor and Melaka came up with lotsa results. In fact, there are quite a number of Japanese restaurants in Ipoh.

Just this Sunday, I went with my friend, Ong,  to a Japanese restaurant called Akamomiji, which is situated behind the row of shophouses near the drive-in MacDonalds and Petronas  station ( as you come out of the highway ). There is also the famous Satay Kajang branch  and a tradtional Taiwan food restaurant just opposite Akamomiji.

We ordered 2 Bento sets :- Unagi and Saba plus another 2 side dishes : jelly fish n spider seaweed ( i think!). Like most Bento sets, it comes with a miso soup, a steamed egg, tempura prawns n vege, rice, unagi/saba, 2 pcs of salmon, 2 pcs of raw saba fish, 2 pcs of raw white fish and a slice of watermelon.

For those who haven't tried try this restaurant, this another choice for your to choose. Of course, there are others like Kizuna, Kizuna One (in RP Golf Club), A Lai, Tomi and many others.

My New Sofa

Was there a time when you wanted to buy something and you purposely went round hunting for it and ended with nothing? Was there also a time when you ain't planning on buying something and then suddenly ended with something?

Well, that was what happened to me this Saturday. We went to a furniture shop in Ipoh Garden South to look around ( also "lepak" until it's time to pick up my girl from tuition). The moment we reach the entrance, there was this L-shaped sofa greeting us and it was "like" at first sight. After enquiring  about the price, we were totally in love with it. There and then my hubby and I came to an agreement : BUY... and Voila! a new sofa joins my family !

Sea Sincerity Restaurant

Ha! Ha! Never heard of it rite, friends? The name is actually Hoi Seng Restaurant ( I translate its name directly : Hoi = Sea, Seng=Sincerity) located next to the Ipoh Garden post office. Some claimed that it originated from Pusing and some said Lenggong. Mostly because it is famous for its "Sai Tow" fish balls and "Yue Wat". I think my friend, Irene, tried it out but she didn't get to tell me how was the food. On MERDEKA eve, I decided to go there to sample its food. Here's some of the pics I took BUT it was already halfway eaten before I remembered to photograph it... too hungry lahh! LOL...

 This dish is called "Shanghai Pork Ribs @ Mo Sek Pai Guat" I tasted this once in Shanghai itself and the taste is actually quite similiar. Only thing is the pork is a little fatty on the side. In Shanghai, this dish is so famous that after sampling it, the tour guides usually will take the tourist to buy as souvenirs as it is vacummed packed.  All you have to do is to steam it and Voila! one Shanghai dish on your table.

This dish is Szechuan Crab-something ( hahaha! i can't quite remember the full name) It's eggs cooked with pieces of crab meat garnished with brocolli. The children loved it!

This is named HongKong Claypot Chicken @ Sam Pui Kei. You can also find this dish at the chinese restaurant next to Breeze Cafe opposite Chin Woo Hall.

There is also a fourth dish which is Brocolli cooked with Yue Wat which I fotgot to capture. All the dishes I ordered are S size as there are only 3 adults and 2 children. Dish #1 is priced at RM16 while the rest are at RM12. All in all,  the bill comes up to RM65 (Nuts RM3, Rice RM5 and tea RM5)

So, tell me what u gals think? Cheap or expensive?
